Part-time Human Resource Generalist

The Town of Gibsons is looking for a standout, Human Resources Generalist to join our spectacular team. If you are a Labour Relations whiz, a master of problem solving and aren't afraid of jumping in you may be the one we're looking for. Reporting to the Director of Finance you are the only HR practitioner at The Town; this is an excellent opportunity to participate in all areas of HR and Labour Relations.
What qualifications and experience/skills are required? We are looking for a graduate of an HR Program (Degree preferred), preferably having obtained or looking to obtain your CPHR Designation. Experience in a unionized environment, is required. Municipal experience is a plus. You also possess:
- Excellent knowledge of Human Resource and Labour Relations principles and practices, including the ability to follow grievance procedures, the Labour Code, Human Rights Code, BC Employment Standards Act, and the Collective Agreement
- Ability to problem solve, negotiate and analyse
- Ability to exercise considerable independent judgement, initiative, discretion and diplomacy in processing the work of self and others, some of which is highly confidential in nature
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, Council and the pubic, maintaining a strong customer focus
- Strong understanding of conflict resolution practices and demonstrates a high level of emotional intelligence
- Ability to work within deadlines, handle multiple tasks and successfully meet challenges
This is a part-time role of 12 hours per week for approximately a one-year term; permanent employment and additional hours after the one-year term is a possibility. Working on Wednesday and Thursday is required. Those looking for either consulting or employment are encouraged to reach out.
